Permanent Mini-games
Look, Rollerbeetle Racing is pretty much the coolest mini-game of all time.
When there aren't holidays going on, this mini-game should still be available in Cantha (give people a reason to buy factions if they haven't) or the temple of balthazar.
When NOT under holiday season rules: Rollerbeetle racing could stop adding toward Gamer Points and could give you like, candy or something for winning. Or, it could still go toward Gamer Points...either way, it wouldn't affect the game enough to make it an unfair advantage or anyone.
Also, this could open up other mini-games that people could play, like the snowball fights, dragon arena, or even some of the gambling mini-games.
Really, there's no reason why we shouldn't be able to have fun like this all year round.

Minigames
I agree. The only problem I can see is that it loses its "special-ness" (For lack of a better term) but I can live with that
A guildie and I would like an NPC that we could buy for our hall so that we could, as a guild, participate in mini-games during parties and such.

Yeah, I agree that there should be year-around mini games. I know I'd play more.

I think a Pub/Tavern type mini-game should be introduced.
Might and Magic VII: For Blood and Honor and Might and Magic VIII: Day of the Destroyer had a really cool mini-card game that played very much like Magic the Gathering...was highly addictive.
In the mini-game, called Arcomage, you played against the "house" (the AI) with random card stacks...it would be really neat to adapt that type of game for 2 or more players.
Yeah, one or 2 repetitively fun mini-games would be great.

OMGOMGOMGOMG
I re-installed M&M VII forever ago JUST to be able to play Arcomage again!
I found some 3rd party game that let me play it, but they wanted me to buy the crappy program just to play it. No thanks.
I can't believe someone else remembers that game. That was seriously the best part of the game for me.

In order to keep its specialness and allow people to play this game more often, how about we have a similar new year's celebration 13 times a year (1 for each animal and one for the real chinese new year) that involves one weekend of rollerbeetle races? Perhaps with enough winning tolkins, you can buy a festival hat of each animal.
Note I'm suggesting 13 times a year so we can see each animal in the zodiac at least once a year.

I have a feeling you are older than 12.
I just reinstalled MM8 yesterday because I got hit with a bout of nostalgia. It runs fine under Win XP/SP2 if you use the Microsoft Application Compatibility Toolkit 4.1and the appropriate database file.

The only reason not to do this is that they will lose their specialness, but frankly, who cares! These minigames would make PvP a lot more appealing to many people, and would keep more people in the game.

Why hasn't anyone suggested allowing Guild Halls to have a "Lumo the Mime" NPC so we can repeatedly take down that silent clown over and over.
Some year round Minigames would be nice to kill time waiting for guildies to finish what they're doing to team up with you (and vice versa).

I find it ironic that when anyone says "World of Warcraft has..." people jump all over them, but when other games are mentioned to support ideas, they are welcomed and praised...
Year-round mini-games for the win. Bring some life back into PvE and those dead outposts, says I.
Yarrrr.

Create a GW theme park island, where one could buy tickets to play all the mini games so far. A nice gold sink, all the games are there and all it needs is a new map/town to act as the GW themepark
